Drought No More! Atlanta Braves Win First Playoff Series Since 2001

Nineteen years of drought no more! The Atlanta Braves have won their first playoff series since 2001, sweeping the Reds in two games. The Braves pitched back-to-back shutouts, winning game two, 5-0.  Atlanta pitched 22 scoreless innings over the two games.

Rookie Ian Anderson got his first playoff start and he was calm, cool, and collected. He went six innings and had nine strikeouts.

Ronald Acuna doubled to the gap in left center sending Austin Riley around from first to score the Braves first run.

In the bottom 8th, Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run home run scoring Freeman. Braves led, 3-0.

Later in the 8th – Adam Duvall’s two-run homer scored Ozzie Albies.

Braves win 5-0.

Atlanta will now move into the playoff bubble. They will play in Houston starting next Tuesday in Game One of the National League Division Series. They will play the winner of the Cubs/Marlins Wild Card Series. The Marlins lead one game to none. Game Two was postponed to tomorrow due to rain.
